Museums in Ras Al Khaimah

The National Museum of Ras al Khaimah is primarily a fortress converted museum. The 19th century built fortress primarily served as the residence to the Al Qasimi Royal Family until turned to a museum. Its galleries portray the historical heritage of the emirate city. Events to attend in Ras Al Khaimah

You can enjoy several events in Ras Al Khaimah such as Ras al Khaimah Half Marathon, an annual event that began in the year 1997, and caught the media attention to the region. 

There is UAE Awafi Festiva, also an annual event that focuses on Arabic public wherein sand dune racing, local food and dance is organized. 

Terry Fox Run RAK is another event the is organized in the emirate for the support of the cancer research in the UAE.

Commuting in Ras Al Khaimah

The public transportation system in Ras Al Khaimah is not well-developed, and visitors may have to hire taxis to get around the emirate city. Several hotels offer Shuttle services to tourist attractions such as Iceland Water Park. Official air transportation for the Ras al Khaimah is RAK Airways operating from the Ras al Khaimah Airport connecting a selected range of cities.

Ras Al Khaimah, one of the seven emirates of the UAE, boasts of a fascinating history of over 7000 years. It is governed under constitutional monarchy under the Al Qasimi family. Currently, the constitutional monarch of Ras al Khaimah is Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi.

The territory of the emirate city has been expanded and re-incorporated from 1808 onwards. However, ever since 1921, Ras al Khaimah became an independent entity.
